The latvian Capital, Riga, is growing in popularity as a city break destination. Despite its many year under russina control, the city has maintained much of its ancient building and architecture.

Latvia gained indendence from Russia in 1994 and joined both the EU and Nato in 2004. It keeps its own currency the Latvian lat (LVL) .
